It’s a disturbing comparison. We like to think that we live in a free country where most police officers abide by their duty to serve and protect – and where our constitutional rights are truly upheld.
But the reality is that the Pentagon has been arming local police forces to the tune of half a billion dollars per year, according to The Washington Post… and as we saw in Ferguson, these local battalions aren’t afraid to flex their newfound muscle.
Specifically, the Defense Department’s excess property program “permits the Secretary of Defense to transfer, without charge, excess U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) personal property (supplies and equipment) to state and local law enforcement agencies.”
In total, the program has transferred $4.3 billion in equipment since its inception.
Phillip Carter tweeted: “FWIW, I led foot patrols in downtown Baquba, #Iraq in 2005-06 w/ less firepower than #Ferguson PD.”

Government cannot legislate morality and government can no longer fool the People with propaganda into disarming. If only our criminal government or murderers and armed-robbers have guns, then YOU, the law-abiding citizen, would be defenseless. Response-time of police is too slow. Cops are only good for beating people senseless and wrecking private property or flexing their newly militarized muscles with DoD freebie equipment when SWAT teams of 10 to 20 police swarm a house to kill one violent gunman or when riots caused by tyrannical government policy are quelled by 200 highly armored police with DoD tanks who storm the rioters (kinda like Tiananmen Square).
Also, government can't incite "crazies" to violent crimes so as to create emergencies that sway public opinion without the People seeing the underlying government cause. The People know that government lies! (moving lips)
Try changing the tyrannical policy or better, eliminate 3/4 of government and do the Constitutional job of defending the USA as originally stated. Hitler and Stalin controlled their people with violence and the threat of violence. Maybe it's time for government to look in the mirror!
Those who seek out positions of power tend to be paranoid, hypocritical wimps. Consider the issue of firearms. Politicians have many thousands of mercenaries (soldiers and "law enforcers") wielding all sort of deadly weapons--guns, tanks, missiles, drones, etc. Yet those same politicians pee themselves at the thought of the rabble owning semi-automatic rifles. From their twisted, elitist perspective, it's perfectly fine for them to swipe many billions of dollars from their subjects to spend on all manner of armaments, but if YOU want to possess a rifle, they think you should have to ask their permission, and register it, and make sure they always know what you own.
They also expect to be allowed to do things in secret, while claiming the right to spy on you and everyone else. As far as they are concerned, it's none of your business what they do, or what weapons they have, but it is their business to know everything that you do and everything that you have. Of course, they will pretend that their goal is to protect you from the "criminal element," but you'd have to be pretty dense to actually believe that. Why do you suppose they mostly whine about civilians having weapons that:
are used in only a tiny percentage of actual crime, and;
are the most effective types of weapon for resisting "government"
aggression?
You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. People who gravitate towards political office think they have the right to rule you. That's the job they applied for. And, of course, extorting you and bossing you around could be rather more difficult if you are better armed than their enforcers. So they hand out machine guns to their mindless thugs, but have tantrums about you having a 30-round magazine.
